A short note caught my attention this week as follows:

In response to a woman who complained to the Rebbe that she was feeling lonely, The Rebbe wrote back, that SUCH THOUGHTS ARE FOREIGN TO A JEW, AS SHE / HE IS ALWAYS UNDER G-D'S CARE.

The Rebbe explained further that when The Previous Rebbe was in prison, the thought that he was not alone, and under G-d's constant supervision, allowed him to overcome his emotions and face his tormentors.

Last weeks Parsha Balak there was another aspect of 'lonliness' where Bilam (against his will) praises the Jewish People, as a 'People who dwell ALONE and will not be reckoned among the nations.'

And Rashi comments from Targum Onkelos, that 'they will not be annihilated with the other nations.'

And then I saw an interesting Hayom Yom this week in relation to the Desruction of the Temple (we are now in the 3 weeks of mourning for the Destruction.)

Basically the Rebbe was saying that only the Building has been destroyed and is desolate, BUT THE SITE STILL RETAINS IT'S SACREDNESS.

The Shechina never departs from the Kotel!

And similarly with the Personal Sanctuary within each Jew, our Foundation always remains whole,clear and pure. (even although we may feel desolate)
