FINDING OUR WAY THROUGH CONFUSION
Dear Family,
Hope everyone is well.
Mazal Tov to Shmuly Davidoff on his upcoming birthday next week. Wishing you Hatzlocha with everything Shmuly.
I saw an interesting story last week which links in with this weeks Sedra Lech Lecha.
The story is short and came from one of the Rebbe's secretaries R Yudel Krinsky.
Because he was a secretary, the Rebbe would give him hand written papers of his to type up.
When Rabbi Krinsky first saw these papers he was overwhelmed.
1. The handwriting was tight
2. It was surrounded by ommisions and additions
3. There were asterisks and arrows giving different instructions
Although Rabbi Krinsky did not say anything, the Rebbe noticed the expression on his face and said:
'Don't let the arrows confuse you.
Take word by word, line by line, with consistency.
You will see, everything will be in order.'
Rabbi Krinsky then concluded that 'Those words meant much more than typing tips.
They gave me direction for all my years of working with the Rebbe, and for life in general.'
In this weeks Sedra Hashem says to Avraham 'Go away from your land, from your birthplace, and from your fathers house, and go to the land which I will show you.'
Avraham has to leave his whole comfort zone, go through all the difficulties of travel, AND HE DOES NOT EVEN KNOW WHICH LAND HE IS GOING TO.
On this Rashi makes a beautiful comment ie Hashem did not immediately reveal the land to him so that he would get rewarded for EVERY WORD OF INSTRUCTION.(if Hashem would have told him the land straight away, he would only have been rewarded for obeying one mitzva)
Wishing everyone a Gut Shabbos and the strength to take steps through complexity, one at a time.
