A DUAL MANOEUVRE

Dear Family

Hope everyone is well.

In this weeks Sedra, Chayei Sarah, Sarah dies at the age of 127, and the Chumash says 'these were the years of Sarah's life.'

And Rashi comments 'This tells us that her years were all equally good.'

Basically Sarah achieved a lot in her life.

There were 2 interesting Hayom Yom quotes last week (which the Rebbe actually spoke about in relation to Chayei Sarah) which SHOWS US HOW WE CAN USE OUR TIME, AND MAKE OUR DAYS AND YEARS MORE PRODUCTIVE.

I have learnt in a Pesach sicha of the Rebbe that Freedom and Productiveness is a DUAL MANOEUVRE ie it is a combination attitude of both rejecting what is wrong and then following up with doing what is right.(and it is like a DUAL)

And this is what I recognised in these 2 Hayom Yom:

16 Cheshvan

Thought serves the intellect and emotions. (When we are not occupied with these substantial activities) it continues to function, but now the thinking is not only devoid of content, but also open to depravity.. brought about by 'emptiness of the head'. But when the mind is occupied, there is no room for these silly or vain thoughts devoid of substance.

17 Cheshvan

Time must be guarded. Every bit of time, every day that passes, is not just a day, but a matter of life. As it says in Talmud Yerushalmi (Berachot 1:1) 'A day enters and a day departs, a week enters etc.a month etc.a year etc...'

It is urgent to 'accept the yoke of Torah.'

Wishing everyone days where we are occupied with much good activity, and where we can look back and say that our year was good (even if there are still improvements to make)
