A BEAUTIFUL HOME
Dear Family,
Hope everyone is well.
Seems like the theme for this week is the HOME.
Mazal Tov to Rivky, Shmuel and Family with their new home in LA. Hope you are all settling in well. And Mazal Tov for Dovi putting on Tefillin at the end of this month in preparation for his Barmitzvah BEH.
This week we also visited Miriam in her new cosy flat and we watched the video of Penina and Avi's wedding there, which we received this week. Thanks for the beautiful spread you prepared Miriam and thanks for the video Penina and Avi!
There is a Book called Moshiach Day by Day, and the discussion on 17th Shvat, 2 days ago, was A BEAUTIFUL HOME, and this is the main Dvar Torah from the Rebbe which I would like to share below.
And then there is also a link to this weeks Sedra - Yisro.
It went as follows:
Women exist to bring beauty to the world (Taanis 31A)
Three things open a person's mind - a beautiful house, a beautiful wife, and beautiful possessions (Berachos 57B)
A home must serve certain basic functions.
Beyond that however, one's home should be beautiful.
A beautiful home not only serves one's needs, but it also raises a person to a higher state of being, a state where one feels open and free to be one's true self.
Similarly Spiritually, Hashem has given women a special spiritual beauty, which also allows Hashems Essence to be open and revealed there.
In relation to this weeks Sedra, where we received the Torah in dread from Hashem, and we promised to keep it, I once saw a letter from the Rebbe to a newly married couple where he emphasised the FOUNDATIONS OF A HOME.
The foundations are mostly invisible and taken for granted, but they have to be strong a stable to support the BEAUTIFUL HOME which everyone can see.
In the same way when the foundation of our home is based on Torah and Mitzvos, this will provide us with stability, and allow Hashem to dwell there.
Wishing everyone a Good and Beautiful Shabbos.
