KOL YISRAEL
Dear Family,
Hope everyone is well.
Mazal Tov to Mendel Levy on his upcoming birthday next week. Your birthday always reminds me of when we spent the first night of Selichos in Longbeach when we were there for your bris. - Good memories! Wishing you a happy and good year Mendel.
In the spirit of Elul, approaching Rosh Hashana, I saw a few interesting points
1. Each week we read a Chapter of Pirkei Avot until Sukkos and each Chapter is introduced with the Posuk 'KOL YISRAEL YESH
LAHEM CHELEK LEOLAM HABA' - EVERY JEW HAS A SHARE IN THE WORLD TO COME
The words 'kol Yisrael ' is an abbreviation for - K, Kohanim, L, Leviim, and Yisrael for Yisrael. Ie all Jews, regardless of their status, have a share in The World to Come.
The last words in this pasuk after kol Yisrael, have a numerical value of 541, which is also the numerical value of Yisrael. Ie these words indicate that every Jew, till the last one, has a share in The World to Come - Chida.
2. The fire within a Jew can be hidden for a long time, like the spark within a flint stone.
Even though the flint stone could be lying in water for many years, the spark never gets lost.
As soon as it is struck a fire can be created. - Sicha from Rebbe
3. Every Jew will eventually do this Teshuvah (lo yidach mimenu nidach)
The question is only if we will do so now, or push it off until later. - Sicha from Rebbe
Wishing everyone a Gut Shabbos and a Kesiva Vechasima Tova for a Good New Year.
