BIRTH
Dear Family,
I hope everyone is well.
Mazal Tov to Hirshy and Mariasha on having moved to their new home.
Mazal Tov to Penina and Avi on moving to their new home this coming week.
It should be meshaneh makom, meshaneh mazal, letovah for both Families! Lets have your new addresses!
We wish long life to Kerry Lee for the Yohrtzeit of her father Alden, which is this Shabbos. His neshamah should have an aliyah.
Actually at the end of last weeks Sedra, and in this week's Sedra Toldos, we have been learning about Yitzchak and Rivkah.
Last week was their marriage, and it said 'Yitzchok married Rivkah and she became his wife, and he loved her. Yitzchok was then consoled for the loss of his mother.'
In the same way Kerry Lee, you should be consoled for the loss of your father.
In this week's sedra, Rivkah is pregnant and gives BIRTH to twins Yaakov and Esav.
I saw an interesting Dvar Torah from The Rebbe this week on BIRTH, based on the pasuk in Yeshayeh 'Tzion experienced birth pangs, and gave birth to her children.'
Our Sages compare the Exile to pregnancy, and Redemption to birth
The Talmud describes the foetus as follows - 'Its head is between its knees, its mouth is closed, and it is fed through the umbilical cord. (Niddah 30b)
The child is fed directly to the stomach, feeding only the PHYSICAL NEEDS of the body.
The childs mind is not fully functioning, and its eyes are closed and unused. Ie the SPIRITUAL NEEDS of head and heart are not fed.
Spiritually, the state of Exile is similar.
We don't understand or see G-dliness.
Our spiritual minds and eyes are largely dormant.
Our actions of good deeds and mitzvot are habitual and cold. They do not affect our minds and hearts to Know and Love Hashem.
REDEMPTION (Mashiach) is the state of BIRTH, where we understand and feel G-dliness deeply in our minds and heart.
But we don't have to wait till then.
By increasing our understanding, awareness and sensitivity to G-dliness, this will help us go from Exile to Redemption.
Gut Shabbos and Gut Chodesh to all.
