KABBALAH, GEMATRIAS, AND BROTHERS
Dear Family,
Hope everyone is well.
Welcome back Mommy from the long trip to Sydney for Talya’s Batmitzvah. I heard this was so beautiful! Mazal Tov again Talya and the whole Family.
Mazal Tov to Gavriel for your birthday on Shabbos. We are so looking forward to your being with us on Shabbos! What a surprise.
In this week’s Sedra Vayishlach, we learn about the meeting between Yaakov and Esav.
The enmity between the 2 is well known, and Yaakov is very fearful, hearing that Esav was approaching his Camp with an army of 400 men, and knowing that Esav had intentions to kill him. Yaakov had fled from him some 34 years previously.
He prepares a very large present of herds and flocks, which he sends out in advance to Esav, spends the night wrestling with an angel, and then goes out ahead of his Family to meet Esav and his army.
It then says that ‘he (Yaakov) bowed down to the earth 7 times until he reached his BROTHER.’
‘Esav ran to meet him and hugged him……..etc’
A friend of mine told me a very nice dvar Torah on this meeting, authored from the Rebbe’s father Reb Levik, whose style is very deep, and derived from Kabbalah and Gematrias (matching the alphabet and numbers ie the numerical value of aleph is 1, beis 2 etc) As follows:
יצחק (Yitzchak) = 208 = 8x26 (Hashems name is numerical equivalent of 26)
Yitzchak gave main brochos to Yaakov, and then also blessed Esav.
יעקב (Yaakov) =182 = 7x26 ie he received 7 of the 8 portions of Yitzchaks 8x26 Holy powers
עסו (Esav) = 376 = 350 + 26 = [26 + (7x50)]
טמא (Impurity) = 50
The portion of G-dliness in Esav (ie the 26), was surrounded by 7 layers of Impurity.
Therefore, when Yaakov approached Esav with his 7 powers of 26, (Holiness), he bowed 7 times.
With each bowing he was removing one layer of impurity from Esav, with his equivalent Holy power.
After all 7 levels of impurity were removed from Esav, HE REACHED HIS BROTHER, ie the internal G-dly essence of Esav.
How intricate, deep and beautiful is our Torah!!
Gut Shabbos to all in the month of Light, Chassidic Yom Tovim and Birthdays - Kislev.
