EDUCATION
Dear Family,
I hope everyone is well.
Mazal Tov to Daniel who has the most amazing birthday, on the first night of Rosh Hashanah, which is also the birthday of mankind ie Adam Harishon. Wishing you a year of growth and you should give your Daddy and Mommy much nachas, Daniel.
Tonight is the yohrtzeit of our dear Mother AH.
Mommy and I visited the beis olam this past Sunday. It is customary to visit the beis olam before Rosh Hashana anyway if one can, and this of course fits in very well with her yohrtzeit. So I spent time at her grave and I brought regards from all of us.
The first thing I want to say, and I probably say this every year, because it is so powerful in my mind and also because it carries a strong lesson for all of us, is relating to her last words (or almost last words) 'It is erev Rosh Hashanah.'
Now to understand this better we need to realise better her state at that time.
She had been living with us for the last few months of her life, and she had started struggling very much with her breathing, to the point that she had to wear an oxygen mask day and night which was very uncomfortable. Prior to this we all know that she had been struggling in general with her health. And she was taking sleeping tablets etc.
I don't want to go into details, but only to say, she was not interested what day of the week it was, nor what day in the month. nor what year. And she wasn't frum in the way we understand it. The only thing she wanted was the arrival of Chanan and Reuven, so that we should all be there before she parted.
AND YET HER NESHAMAH KNEW THAT IT WAS EREV ROSH HASHANAH. And she said it in such a knowing and clear way as if to say 'my passing is on Erev Rosh Hashanah.'
Secondly, she dedicated her whole life tirelessly, to the EDUCATION of her children, in the best way that she understood, and even beyond what she understood.
And so, in her honour, I am attaching a half hour talk that I heard this week, related to the education of children in relation to Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.
I think it will be very useful for all those with young children, but it also helps in our own education, wherever we are up to.

wishing everyone a Gut Shabbos and a Shanah Tovah where we connect with our inner natural neshamah, and carry out the mitzvos which Hashem has commanded us with a full heart and much joy.
