RAMBAM
Dear Family,
I hope everyone is well.
Mazal Tov to Devorah Leah on her birthday next week. Wishing you a happy year with much success in the education of your children, and with much nachas from the whole Family.
It wasn't difficult to choose the theme of this week's activities
The week was packed with RAMBAM activity
Next week on the 4th of Av is the completion of the Yearly cycle of learning Rambam's Classic work, The Mishneh Torah.
To complete this cycle one has to learn 3 chapters per day over 1 year, because the Mishneh Torah has 1000 chapters.
There is also a 3-Year cycle, which is completed by learning 1 chapter per day over 3 years.
And then there is a third cycle cycle, where even children can participate, and that is learning just the Scriptural Mitzvot which are being discussed in the daily 1-year cycle.
Mishneh Torah is a Book oh halachot (Laws), and besides learning the PRACTICAL LAWS as prescribed by Torah, the above Project, as prescribed by the Rebbe in 1984, also brings about a Unity of people learning Torah together at the level that they find comfortable.
The Rebbe said that the Mishneh Torah gathers all of Jewish law, in a concise and clear fashion, and that every Jewish individual is commanded to study the entire Torah. Normally this would not be within the reach of most people, but through the Mishneh Torah as compiled by the Rambam, this has become a possibility for everyone.
Mosheh ben Maimon, acronymed Rambam, from the words Rabeinu Mosheh Ben Maimon, became one of the most prolific and influential Torah Scholars and Physicians of the Middle Ages.
He was also a Philosopher and Astronomer.
He was born in Cordova, Spain on the eve of Passover 1135, and died in Egypt on December 12th 1204 (20th Tevet).
His body was then transported from Egypt to Tiberias and buried there according to his wishes.
The main work of Rambam is the Mishneh Torah, and it is still considered today as one of the main authoritative codifications of Jewish Law and Ethics.
For the last 15 years and 7 months BH, I have been summarising the Mishneh Torah into English, and BH the main works of the series is now complete.
The launch of the work will be taking place next Monday evening at the Siyum HaRambam event in Stamford Hill, London BEH
The Books have arrived, the website is set up, orders are starting to roll in, Batsheva is designing the set up for the seudah, Chava has started processing book orders, Shmuly is preparing a presentation on how to use the website and QR codes, Zalmy will be filming for Mommy who is in Australia etc etc.
And so there is lots of excitement BH.
And so I would like to share this launch with the Family:
