SONS (AND DAUGHTERS)

Dear Family,

I hope everyone is well.

Due to circumstances the email is a bit earlier than normal.

This coming week is the Yohrtzeit of my cousin Alden, and I wish Froma and Kerry Lee and Adrian long life. You should only experience simchos in the future.

I saw 3 sets of interesting items this week which were all connected as follows:

1. In this weeks Sedra Chayei Sarah, 2 items stood out

1. Hashem blessed Avraham with EVERYTHING IE A SON (the Hebrew for everything is bakol, and Rashi points out that the numerical value of bakol is the same as ben ie a son)
2. And Avraham now instructs his SERVANT, Eliezer, to go and find a wife for Yitzchok, from Avraham's birthplace.

2. And then, over 2 consecutive days in Moshiach Day by Day it was speaking about

1. Serving Hashem like a SON
2. Serving Hashem like a SERVANT

Serving Hashem like a son (Likutei Sichos Vol 19)

A child is an extension of his father.

In essence they are one.

Therefore, to bring Mashiach, we must not only learn and understand, BUT WE MUST ALSO INTERNALISE AND EXPERIENCE TORAH AND MITZVOS WITH PLEASURE AND JOY, LIKE A SON SERVING HIS FATHER OUT OF LOVE.

Serving Hashem like a servant (Tanya Chap 41)

It is not enough for us to serve Hashem with understanding and enjoyment.

We must also serve WITH A SIMPLE FEELING OF OBLIGATION AND COMMITMENT TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT WHETHER WE LIKE IT OR NOT.

This

a. trains us to go beyond our own abilities and understanding b. pushes us to influence the world beyond our personal sphere and comfort zone

3. And thirdly, this week I am travelling to the Kinus Hashluchim in New York, with 2 SONS, AND MEETING 1 SON-IN-LAW there BEH!!
