PLEADING

Mazal Tov to Claude whose birthday is next week. Wishing you a healthy and happy year Claude. And love to Joy.

This weeks Sedra is Behar - Bechukosei, and the Bechukosei section starts "Im bechokosei telechu.." - IF you will go in my statutes....

And I saw a nice short explanation of this pasuk in today's Hayom Yom, as follows:

The simple meaning of this verse is, "If you will go in my statutes, then you will receive all these rewards....

But our Sages (Avodah Zarah p5a) interpret the verse differently ie "IF ONLY you will go in my statutes.."

Hashem is PLEADING (as it were) with Israel to keep the Torah.

This in itself aids man and gives him the ability to remain steadfast in his choice of the good.

The verse also uses the word holech - go, ie the soul then becomes a mehaleich - It PROGRESSES from one level to the next continually ascending to higher levels of achievement.
