WHAT WE DO IS IMPORTANT
Dear Family,
I hope that everyone is well.
Mazal Tov to Pesach and Chanie on their upcoming Anniversary next week. Wishing you both much continued success with everything that you do, in both gashmius and ruchnius, and especially with the chinuch of your children. And with much happiness.
Mazal Tov to Mendel Davidoff on his birthday next week. Have a great year Mendel and continue with all the good work you are doing! You give us all much nachas.
We wish long life to Naomi on the Yohrtzeit of her mother next week. We have fond memories of Rosalie, and when this time comes around every year, we realise how she is missed. Wishing you only happy occasions in the future.
Last week I saw and shared a story from The Baal Shem Tov on how important it is to be extremely humble, and this week I saw another article, also from the Baal Shem Tov, about how EXCESSIVE HUMILITY may not be good. (Keter Shem Tov)
So I thought I would share this also, to address the balance.
The theme of the article was "More than we look to Hashem, Hashem looks eagerly to us."
Therefore if we have excessive humility we may believe that we are too insignificant to damage or improve the heavens or the earth.
This leads to anarchy.
Rather we must recognise that we bond with G-d himself with each positive deed that we do.
Therefore we are able to draw down Divine light to all the worlds through our prayer and study (and deeds), and in truth even the angels are sustained from our efforts.
If we would recognise our power, we would throw ourselves into G-d's service with tremendous joy.
We would be in awe of our good fortune.
We would be scrupulous with our every movement and word.
In Tehillim 68:14 the word shefatayim is used - borders
This is related to the word sefatayim - lips.
Hashem waits and watches our lips, eager to kiss them when we pronounce words of Torah and prayer with love and awe!
Who can contemplate this thought without trembling?
The great and awesome King of the Universe is waiting and watching the lips of a truly lowly human!! - Keter Shem Tov
We are an important element of Creation, and WHAT WE DO IS IMPORTANT!
Wishing everyone a Gut Shabbos!
