JOY
Shabbos 2023-09-30 is Sukkos (no weekly parsha in the diaspora); filed under Yom Tov.
Dear Family,
I hope that everyone is well, and that Reuven and Sid are continuing to heal nicely.
I would like to apologize to anyone who has celebrations this week, as I am away from home and don't have access to my diary to help me with the details.
But we do wish a hearty Mazal Tov nevertheless.
We are now moving towards Sukkos, Shemini Atzeres and Simchas Torah, which are referred to as the TIME OF OUR REJOICING.
So I would like to share a few points about JOY which I came across this week
It states in the Talmud that the power of joy is unlimited.
"Joy breaks through all boundaries"
How can one develop joy?
A Chassid once wrote to the third Chabad Rebbe, the Tzemach Tzedek, and mentioned that he found it difficult to be happy.
The Tzemach Tzedek advised him "Thought, Speech and Action are within one's control
- A person must guard his thoughts and think only thoughts that bring joy.
- One should be cautious not to speak about sad or depressing matters.
- One should behave as if one were very joyous, even if one does not feel especially happy. In the end, one will ultimately be happy."
Wishing everyone a Gut Shabbos and a Gut Yom Tov, and with much joy!
