REWARDS OF LISTENING

This week I saw 2 Dvar Torah which were connected, which I would like to share.

15th of Av (from Mashiach Day by Day)

• Shulchan Aruch YD 246:23

.Especially from the 15th of Av and on, one should begin learning TORAH at night (because the nights start earlier and last longer)

• Taanis 31a

From the 15th of Av, one who adds in learning is granted additional life.

Sedra, Ekev

"Vehayah ekev tishmeun." - It will be, if you will LISTEN to these Laws..The Eternal your G-d will keep His promise to you..He will love you, bless you,...bless the fruits of your land - your grain, your wine, your oil......

So the Baal Haturim explains the hidden messages in the word Ekev (If)

• Its numerical value is 172, and the section in Torah describing the 10 Commandments (which some say is a crystalisation of the whole Torah), has 172 words! Ie the word Ekev is also referring to the whole Torah.
• The Hebrew letters of Ekev, can also spell out Kva, which means "Fixed" - as in the phrase 'aseh Toraschah kva' - make your sessions of Torah learning at fixed times every day

Ie if we will listen to, and heed the Laws of Hashem, and set fixed times to learn HIS TORAH, then.... Especially, increasing now as the nights start to get longer....
