Dear Family,

I hope that everyone is well.

Mazal Tov to Freida whose birthday is tonight. Wishing you a year of much happiness, Freida, with nachas from children, and achievements in both gashmius and ruchnius!

Mazal Tov to Chava on her birthday next week. Wishing you also a year of much happiness Chava, and continued success with everything that you do! Thank you for all the work that you put in for us!

Mazal Tov to Daniel for his birthday on the first night of Rosh Hashanah. What a beautiful day to have a birthday Daniel, and wishing you a beautiful year.

We have the Yohrtzeit of my mother on Monday, and I will be going to visit her at the Beis Olam on Sunday. Her neshamah should have an Aliyah, and wishing all the Family long life.

It is also the yohrtzeit of Claude's mother. Her neshamah should have an Aliyah, and long life for her Family.

It's been a week of re-uniting with more members of our Family BH, and I was just thinking that my mother ah would be so happy about this.

Janine Milner is in London visiting her daughter Mel and David Glickman and their children who live in Golders Green.

And Janine is the daughter of Uncle Henry ah, who was the brother of my mother ah.

It was so nice to spend time with you and your Family Janine, and to bring back memories of our young years in SA in Linksfield, Houghton, Uncle Henry ah, Aunty Maisie ah etc etc.

Welcome to our Family group Janine!! And thank you Mel and David for hosting us in your beautiful home, and Shmuly's Family, who also joined in the re-union.

Hopefully we will have a Family Tree ready next week to help introduce you, Janine, to all the members of our Family Group - see below

This was the next highlight of the week in relation to Family. Kevin (Marks) came forward following my request for a Family Tree, linking all the members of our Group. He has already produced a draft XL spread-sheet. This is so great Kevin, and we thank you with much gratitude! Hopefully we can attach the first version onto next week's email, and hopefully it will continue to develop with time BEH! Very exciting! Many thanks Kevin!

There were some interesting points about ROSH HASHANAH linked to this week's Sedra Nitzavim- Vayelech, in Hayom Yom, as follows (from the Baal Shem Tov):

  • Tishrei is the seventh month of the year, even though it is the beginning or Head of the year. Ie years are counted from Tishrei, but months are counted from Nissan. So Nissan is the first month of the Jewish year.
  • This week's Torah portion (which always falls on the Shabbos before Rosh Hashanah) begins with the words "Atem nitzavim hayom.." - You are standing firm today

"Today" alludes to Rosh Hashanah.

"Standing firm" - Torah tells us that we will be vindicated (cleared) in judgement.

  • The Hebrew word shevii can mean "7" as in the seventh month (above), but it can also mean "satiated". Hashem blesses this month on the Shabbos before Rosh Hashanah. (this coming Shabbos). The whole month becomes satiated. And this then satiates the entire Jewish People with abundant good for the entire Year!

Gut Shabbos and wishing everyone a Kesivah Vechasimah Tovah for a Good and Sweet New Year!
