BH, lots of birthday celebrations this coming week!

After Pesach, this coming Shabbat, we start reading Pirkei Avot (Ethics of the Fathers) - 1 chapter every Shabbat, and I saw an interesting article, being an excerpt from Rabbi Yosef Marcus, which I would like to share.

Pirkei Avot Chap 1:12

Hillel said: Be of the disciples of Aaron - loving peace, loving your fellow creatures, and drawing them close to Torah.

In Biurim of the Rebbe, it is mentioned that pursuit of peace demands strenuous work.

Hillel's message is built upon the teaching of his Master, Shmayah, who taught his students to 'love work', since it is only through hard work that one can succeed in bringing peace to others.

And with regard to loving your fellow, the order of the Mishneh is precise- first love the person unconditionally, and then if you truly love him, you will seek to unite him with the Torah, which allows his soul to fulfil it's purpose in the world.

Hashem behaved with us in the same order: First he took us out of Egypt despite our lack of merits, then He brought us close to Mount Sinai, and then He gave us the Torah.

Gut Shabbos to all, and Gut Chodesh
