The current Sedras are describing the breaking of the power of Pharoah's grip on the Jewish People, resulting in our subsequent Exodus and Freedom from Egypt.

Connected to this, today's Hayom Yom explains how this relates to our own personal lives, which I would like to share:

The Hebrew word for Egypt is Mitzrayim.

The root of this word, metzar, means constriction or limitation.

In ourselves, spiritually, this reflects our animal soul severely restricting our G-dly soul, to the degree that it becomes diminished and hidden.

Our exodus from Mitzrayim is the removal of these constrictions and boundaries.

This comes about when the intellect in the brain is freed, to illuminate what is going on in the heart, bringing about fine character traits, translated into actual practice.

Gut Shabbos to all
