TIME USAGE, A STORY
Sent mid-Pesach; the following Shabbos (Shemini) has its own piece, so this is filed under Pesach only.
Dear Family,
I hope that everyone is well and having a wonderful Pesach.
Wishing a refuah shleimah for Yechezkiel ben Ester.
Mazal Tov to Ariel Bassin on his birthday today. Wishing you a great year Ariel with much achievement in both the material and spiritual. And with much honour to you, we wish you a successful year with your IDF training this coming year BEH!
I also want to remember Aunty Girlie’s yohrtzeit which was on the Second Day of Pesach. We wish long life to Adrian and all the connected Sacks Family. All who met Aunty Girlie can only have fond memories of her and her always happy disposition! Her neshamah should have an Aliyah.
I saw an interesting story in Slice of Life which I would like to share, about a man called Shmuel Menachem Spitz who is 105 years old and lives in Yerushalayim.
He was born in Hungary, he is a holocaust survivor, is a veteran of Israel’s war of Independence, a former factory worker and the husband of an Auschwitz survivor.
Together they built a proud Jewish Family, and despite his remarkable age, he continues to study Torah every single day.
Both their life stories are described, and one of the points he mentioned was, “During my working years, I did not have much time to learn Torah. I feel that I was granted long life in order to complete the learning I once lacked.”
When asked about the secret to his long life he replied with *3 simple principles*:
· Eat calmly. In the past people ate meals. Today it feels like people devour food. All our lives we ate 3 simple, orderly meals a day
· Second, keep the mind active. Sit and learn, read, and think. Do not waste your mind on nonsense
· Thirdly, always be joyful. One must remember that things could always be worse, G-d forbid. Rejoice in what you have.
From the second night of Pesach we begin Counting of the Omer - counting 49 days until Shavuot, the time when Hashem gave us His Torah.
In the meantime we still have to celebrate the rest of Pesach.
Gut Moed, Gut Yom Tov and Gut Shabbos to all
