Mazal Tov to Kevin Ossey on his birthday next week. Wishing you much success Kevin in both the material and Spiritual. Thank you for all the work that you are putting into our Family Tree!

Today, Gimmel Tammuz, is also the Yohrtzeit of our dear Rebbe, the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

The month of Tammuz, as is reflected by today’s events, often has this mixture of dark and light, sweet and bitter, but I saw a very interesting editorial, in relation to Gimmel Tammuz, which I would like to share.

The Rebbe taught us that the events of a particular day, reveal the unique energy and message embedded in that day, and 2 significant events in Jewish history are associated with Gimmel Tammuz:

· Joshua’s conquest of Eretz Yisrael. As the Jewish people were in the process of conquering EY, daylight was running out, and the day needed to be longer to complete the task. At Joshua’s request to Hashem, the sun stood still, (for approximately a day), allowing them to finish the work entrusted to them by Hashem. The miracle was not an end in itself, but was granted to be able to fulfil a mission. (Joshua 10:13)

· Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson’s death sentence for his courageous efforts to preserve Judaism in Russia, was commuted to exile on this day in 1927. The Rebbe explained that this was the start of the process which would lead to an unprecedented resurgence of Torah and Jewish life

Although separated by thousands of years, these 2 events share a striking theme.

In both cases, a mission that appeared to be impossible, was given new life

· In Joshua’s time more DAYLIGHT was granted to complete his task

· In 1927, what appeared to be a monumental threat to Jewish life under Soviet oppression, became the beginning of a remarkable revival. The Rebbe took over from the Frierdike Rebbe when he passed on in 1950, and continued his work until he passed on in 1994.

It has been 32 years since the passing of the Rebbe on Gimmel Tammuz 1994, and yet his teachings and directives continue to inspire people across the globe, *both Jewish and non-Jewish alike*

From Chabad centres on very continent, to individuals discovering greater meaning and purpose to their lives, the impact continues to expand in ways few could have imagined.

In a very real sense, THE SUN HAS NOT SET - THE LIGHT CONTINUES TO SHINE and the mission continues to advance in an exponential manner, for our mission to come to completion with the Coming of Mashiach and our Redemption!

May we be inspired by the Rebbe’s unwavering belief that each of us has the ability to bring more light, purpose, kindness and G-dliness into the world, and overcoming our own difficulties *even when things may SEEM TO BE IMPOSSIBLE*

The Rebbe passed on, Gimmel Tammuz, and so did our father.

I feel extremely honoured for our connection to this great day!

May it be a blessing for our whole and extended Family.

Gut Shabbos to all!
