CLINICAL
Dear Family,
I hope everyone is well, and settling down from the beautiful Family reunion at Sara and Aaron's wedding in Boston BH. Mazal Tov again!
Mazal Tov to Chanan and Naomi on their upcoming Anniversary next week. Wishing you many happy years together with continued growth and development. It was so nice to be with you at your home again.
And the Anniversary of Mommy and I.
Mazal Tov Hirshy on your graduation! You should keep going from strength to strength!
This Shabbos we have 3 yohrtzeits. Ie the yohrtzeit of our Rebbe - The Lubavitcher Rebbe, our (Chanan, Reuven and my) father, and the grand-father of Shmueli Bassin in Australia. - Gimmel Tammuz.
The CLINICAL theme of this week very much reflected off the wedding of Sara and Aaron this week, and relates to the above yohrtzeits.
One of the dreams of my father AH, was that Chanan, Reuven and I should one day make a CLINIC together.
We did all qualify as doctors and went on our different journeys, and that clinic did not quite materialise, but I am sure his 'presence' at the wedding would have given him much joy, to see us together, and how extensive have become the Medical connections in our family and extended family BH!
And as Aaron's brother joked in his speech, that 10% of the US cardiologists were at the wedding. (plus all the other specialists, dentists etc, and how about all the ones who could not make it to the chasanah)
The Rebbe had 2 strokes and he was hospitalised once at Sinai and once at Bet Yisrael (I may have the names wrong?)
I always knew that Eddie Fisher was one of the cardiologists on the team that was treating the Rebbe after his first stroke ( Eddie is Naomi's brother, who is Ashley's wife, and this is a whole long story in itself, not for today)
But at the wedding this week, I had a major surprise to find out that we had another distant relative on the team treating the Rebbe after his second stroke.
This was Burt (cant remember his surname) who is a brother-in-law of Bruce and Gila Kriegel, ( Bruce is Annette Davidoff's brother) who I met at the wedding and with whom I had a nice chat , together with David Kriegel (a dermatologist)
In short - Wow! Such a big Family reunion, with so many connections and inter-connections, beyond our understanding, but giving us the scent at least, of something beautiful and beyond.
Thank you also Brian for visiting the grave of our father when you were in SA recently. Whenever we meet they are always short and sweet!
And to end with a short dvar Torah which I saw in Hayom Yom of this week, authored by The Rebbe.
The Alte Rebbe responded as follows to a young genius famed for his intellectual gifts - 'Spiritual and physical are antithetical in their very essence. A superior quality in the physical is a deficiency in the spiritual.
In material matters, one who is satisfied with his lot, is an individual of the highest quality. A person possessing this trait, will, through avoda, attain the highest levels.
In spiritual matters, however, to be satisfied with one's lot is the worst deficiency....'
Wishing everyone a Gut Shabbos, and many more simchos where we can be together.
