PRECIOUS DAYS

Dear Family,

I hope everyone is well.

Mazal Tov to Menachem Mendel Levy on his birthday next week. Wishing you a happy year and an exciting party Mendel. Love from all of us.

In this weeks Sedra, Ki Seitzei, there is an interesting mitzva of sending away the mother bird from its nest. Ie one is not allowed to take the mother bird together with it's young.

Once one sends away the mother bird one is allowed to take its young.

But listen to the reward Torah gives, if one sends away the mother - 'SO THAT IT WILL BE WELL WITH YOU AND THAT YOU LIVE A LONG TIME'!

And Rashi comments on this and says 'If for such a light mitzva as this, which involves no monetary loss, and Torah says it will be good for you and you will live long, THEN HOW MUCH MORE SO WILL BE OUR REWARD WHEN WE FULFIL MORE DIFFICULT COMMANDMENTS' (one will at least get the above award)

And then Rashi points out the following sequence of Laws mentioned in Torah which point to the rewards stemming from doing mitzvot ie

1. 'Sending away the mother bird. -verse 7
2. 'When you will build a new house..' (ie you will now be privileged to build a new house) - v8
3. 'You shall make a guard rail.' (ie one good deed leads to another) -v8
4. Laws about vineyard (ie you will attain a vineyard) -v9
5. Laws about plowing (and fields) - v10
6. Laws about garments (and you will have fine garments) -v11-12

Wishing everyone to achieve much reward, using each of the PRECIOUS DAYS that Hashem grants us with so much generosity.

Gut Shabbos, and a kesiva vechasima tova for a year with much blessing and joy.
