Shabbos 2020-09-19 is Rosh Hashanah (no weekly parsha in the diaspora); filed under Yom Tov.

Shabbos 19 Sep 2020 was Rosh Hashanah; the text discusses "this week's Sedra Haazinu", so it is also listed under Haazinu.

Dear Family,

I hope everyone is well.

Mazal Tov to Daniel Yitzchak for his birthday on Rosh Hashanah, the same day as the birth of Adam HaRishon! Wishing you much success with school Daniel, and with much happiness.

Mazal Tov to Talya Davidoff who has a birthday tomorrow. Wishing you a year of much opportunity Talya.

This week, the AWE of Hashem kept coming up, and so I would like to share these.

Tanya (Letter 18 Igere Hakodesh)

In yesterdays Tanya we learned that we have to labour in this world with much effort to achieve an AWE of G-d.

This is like searching for a hidden treasure, which needs great and intense exertion.

It is also described as 'It is the way of a man to search for the woman.' This means that the Love of G-d searches for the Awe of G-d, and dwells with it.

The result achieved by searching and working on this awe, is reaching a level of LOVE called Ahavah Betaanugim, meaning one delights wonderously in G-d with a great and immense joy, which is as delightful as wonderously sweet delights, and is a foretaste of The-World-To-Come

Gemorra Shabbos (P 30a and 30b)

This described AWE in a parable as follows:

A person said to his emissary to take his wheat to the attic for storage.

Afterwards he enquired from the emissary if he had added homton into the storage? (which is a preservative to keep away the worms)

When the emissary replied in the negative, he said, 'It would have been preferable that you would not have brought the wheat to storage (of what use is worm-infested wheat?)

Likewise all our toil in Torah and Mitzvot, is only valuable if we add AWE of G-d to the mixture

Chumash

In this week's Sedra Haazinu one of the points mentioned in (V18 and onwards) was 'You ignored the Rock who bore you, and forgot G-d Who brought you out of the womb....Are not all of their actions stored away with Me, secured in My storehouses!?'

Wishing all a delightful Shabbos and a Sweet and Happy New Year with good health
