MUSIC
Shabbos 2020-10-03 is Sukkos (no weekly parsha in the diaspora); filed under Yom Tov.
Dear Family,
I hope everyone is well, and had a meaningful Yom Kippur.
Gmar chasimah tovah to all
Mazal Tov to Mel (Geniene Stein’s daughter) and David Glickman on the birth of a girl. Wishing you much nachas from her and all your children!
We are now heading into Sukkos, our FESTIVAL OF JOY.
On each day of Sukkos we have the spiritual visitors called the ushpizim, coming in to our sukkah.
On the first day (and night) it is Avraham Avinu together with the Chassidic ushpiz, the Baal Shem Tov. On the second day it is Yitzchak Avinu and the Magid of Mezeritch etc
Each year we have difficulty trying to remember the niggunim (MUSIC) of the Chassidic ushpizim and so I am attaching some of them in advance
The Baal Shem Tov -

The Baal Shem Tov, The Mezeritcher Rebbe, and the Alte Rebbe – ‘Shalos Tenuos’ - <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BufVUiJOLI0> Nigun Sholosh Tenuos - Three Stanzas (Chabad melody) - שלוש תנועות
The Alte Rebbe – ‘Dalet Bavos’ -

Here is another beautiful niggun below, from the Alte Rebbe, related to this week’s Sedra, Vezos Habrachah.
Mosheh Rabeinu is giving his brachah to each of the Shevatim on the last day of his life, and the brachah he gave to Gad was, tremendous and fierce physical strength, because they lived by the borders of Eretz Yisrael, to allow them to defend the Land.
‘… and they sever their enemies arm and head (with one blow)…..’
The Rebbe links this brocha to the placing of tefillin on the head and arm, which also has the effect of instilling fear into our enemies. In fact the Rebbe started the Tefillin campaign just before the 6-Day War in 1967.
In this niggun, The Alte Rebbe is referring to tefillin – vehayu letotafot bein einechah – they should be as frontlets between your eyes - <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtIlM4zNVWE> ניגון כאייל תערוג לאדמו”ר הזקן - Niggun K’ayol Taarog from the Alter Rebbe.
And to add the beautiful music of Shlomo Carlbach AH singing a niggun from the dynasty of Ruzin which derived from The Magid of Mezeritch - <https://www.youtube.com/watch?list=RDBziayMHPYAo&v=BziayMHPYAo&feature=emb_ rel_end> The Ruzin Nigun - Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach - ניגון רוז'ין - רבי שלמה קרליבך
Wishing everyone a joyous Shabbos and Yom Tov with much song!
