MIRACLES CONTINUED
Dear Family,
I hope everyone is well, and had a nice Chanukah.
2 Mazel Tovs to the Newton Davidoffs:
A big Mazal Tov for Dani and her Choson on their engagement! Amazing news. We are all so happy for you. Mazal Tov Chanan and Naomi. This should be the first of many more engagements!
And Mazal Tov to Naomi on your birthday next week. What a nice birthday present!
Chanukah is over, and we are no longer lighting the beautiful candles at night, but in a Sicha, the Rebbe encouraged all men, women and children to do all they can, even after Chanukah, to illuminate the world, and this should be done with joy. (Sichos Kodesh 5734 Vol 1 p236)
And then I saw another article this week in 'Mashiach Day by Day', which I think, helps us to understand the above, better:
Someone asked the Rebbe 'Can the Rebbe perform MIRACLES?'
And the Rebbe answered, 'This world is not separate from the higher worlds, but is another step, the last one, in a long chain of worlds.
Everything in this world comes from, and is influenced by, the higher ones.
A miracle is something that you could not have calculated.
When a Jew connects himself (or herself) through his Divine spark, with G-d, through fervent prayer, Torah, and Mitzvos, he can change this physical world 'from above', in a way that is beyond calculation.
This power is not the prerogative of one Jew, but of every Jew.
The Rebbe also responded:
'Now I want to ask you a question, and at the same time, to try and perform a miracle.
..Since 6m of our people in Russia, Poland and Hungary have been lost to us through Hitler, we have a special task to accomplish - the work that those 6m Jews could have done (or at least a major part of it)
Everyone counts. No Jew is expendable.
Every one of us must use his full strength to add to the side of good.
Through this we will gain a life of happiness and harmony.
All this can be done with a life of Torah and Mitzvos, tested by our 35 hundred year history.
Beginning tomorrow, each of us - myself included - should add more Torah and Mitzvos in his own personal life, and influence the environment in the same direction.
IF WE FOLLOW THIS THROUGH, THIS WILL INDEED BE OUR MIRACLE.'
Gut Shabbos to all with much continued light!
