THE POWER OF A PHYSICAL ACT

Dear Family,

I hope everyone is keeping well. Please remember Renee (Rivka bas Sarah Zlata) in our prayers, as she is still going through difficult therapy. She should have a refuah shleimah.

In the book of Tanya by the Alter Rebbe, we are learning this week from the section Igeres Hateshuvah, and I found Chap 12 very interesting.

The Alte Rebbe brings a beautiful analogy as follows:

"When a shadow on earth moves a handsbreadth, this equals to the sun's movement in the sky of thousands of miles.."

The analogy is pointing out that any event that transpires in this world, results from a far more ethereal event that took place previously in the spiritually exalted worlds.

But what I found even more interesting, is that "Infinitely more so is this true in the parallel." ie when we do a physical act like a Mitzvah below on earth, we elicit far reaching reverberations in the exalted spiritual worlds! (as brought down from the Arizal)

As it says in Yoma 39a 'Sanctify yourselves and you shall be holy'

And in Vayikra 20:7 "Man sanctifies himself a little below, and he becomes sanctified in great measure from Above." (And the Rebbe comments that 'a little' refers to quantity, and 'below' refers to quality)

Wishing that all of our thousands of small mitzvot that we do together as a Nation, should elicit the era of Mashiach and the building of the Third and Final Temple even before Tisha BeAv this Sunday!
