Dear Family,

Mazal Tov to Netanel on his birthday tonight. Wishing you a happy and successful year Netanel. It was nice seeing you again in LA over Sukkos BH!

Mazal Tov to Yosef who has a birthday this coming week. Wishing you also a happy and successful year Yosef!

"In every generation we have enemies trying to annihilate us, but G-d Almighty saves us from their hands." - Hagaddah.

I saw an interesting article from "Hebrew Word of the Week" (Rabbis Kalmenson and Abraham) which explores the POWER OF FAITH AND HOW TO DEVELOP IT, which relates to current events facing our People "

One of the Hebrew words for Faith is EMUNAH

  • The minimum requirement of faith is the belief in G-d who is the cause of all existence.
  • But this faith can and should be developed. The root of the word Emunah is uman which means a craftsman or artisan or a practitioner etc. All these people have become expert in their fields by developing their basic talents, through practicing, and constant cultivation.
  • The modern Hebrew word for exercising is imunim.

Likewise, faith is an ongoing process of developing our basic 'talent' of belief. It is not a static noun, but a dynamic verb.

  • The journey of faith requires us also to understand as much as we can, and then allocate faith to what is beyond our grasp. But with practice, our knowledge increases, and this dance between faith and knowledge is the expression of the perpetual journey of faith.
  • But what is most important, and what really relates to us now in the current events, is that THE MORE WE DO, THE MORE WE COME TO UNDERSTAND, AND TO BELIEVE. Mitzvot which we perform therefore, are not only the fruit of faith, but also its nourishing roots, and brings us closer to Hashem.

All of our small individual Mitzvot that we can contribute to the current situation, will therefore carry much power, and our combined efforts, and unity of purpose, will bring Hashem's assistance against all of our enemies.

Gut Shabbos to all!
