TIFERES AND NETZACH EMOTIONAL ATTRIBUTES

Each week of Sefiras Haomer, which we are currently counting for 7 weeks, we try and refine one of the 7 emotional attributes of our natures.

And if we were actually born during the Sefira, the sefira relating to our birthday, is indicative of our personal nature, and the refining work that we need to work on throughout our life.

We are currently in week 3 of the Sefira which is refining the characteristic of TIFERES, and towards the end of next week we enter week 4, which is refining the characteristic of NETZACH (as can be seen by all the above birthdays.)

So what is the meaning of TIFERES and NETZACH? (From ' The Counting Of The Omer' by Rabbi Simon Jacobson)

TIFERES

Can be translated as Compassion, or Harmony, or Truth

It is a harmony between the first 2 Emotional characteristics of Kindness and Strictness

Tiferes tempers each of these emotions by introducing the dimension of Truth.

Truth is accessed through selflessness, rising above our egos, which then gives us a clear and objective picture of our own, and other's needs.

NETZACH

Can be translated as Endurance, or Fortitude, or Ambition

It is a balance of patience, with persistence and determination.

It is also being reliable, which establishes security.

Endurance means to be alive and to be driven by healthy and productive goals.

It is the readiness to fight for what you believe and to go all the way.

Therefore one has to carefully assess one's goals to make sure that they are worthy.
