Dear Family,

I hope that everyone is well.

Wishing a refuah shleimah for Yechezkiel ben Ester.

This year marks the 250th year of American Independence.

In honour of this, the American Jewish community has been invited to observe a National Shabbos, this coming Shabbos. (May 15th)

Shabbat 250 marks the first time in American history that a sitting President has invited the Jewish community to observe a dedicated Shabbos.

This coming Shabbos, just before before Shavuos is also called Shabbos Achdus - Shabbos of Unity, a phrase coined by the Lubavitcher Rebbe.

40 years ago (6th June 1986) the Rebbe suggested that this particular Shabbos should become a *global* Shabbat of Unity, in preparation for Shavuos. Ie When Jews of all backgrounds, all over the world, could unite in a spirit of love, in the days preceding Shavuos.

Shavuos, as mentioned by Rashi, is when the Jewish People accepted the Torah “as one man with one heart.”

In recognition of this amazing upcoming Shabbos I am attaching a beautiful article that I saw this week by Michal Oshman titled “ THE BOUNDARY THAT SET ME FREE”

She has been a CEO for a number of high profile companies and has become well known in the Jewish world, a remarkable personality – Enjoy the read!

Wishing everyone an amazing Shabbos, connected to Jews all over the world, uniting in love, in preparation for the receiving of our Torah on Shavuos
