AND SOME PROUD NEWS FROM OUR GRANDCHILDREN: (Just in connection with Rambam Learning because it is so current)
- Today Esther Miriam Davidoff is in New York where her and hundreds of other girls from all over the world are participating in the Rambam Chidon, where all these girls have finished the whole of Rambam’s Sefer HaMitzvos, having learnt all 613 Mitzvos of Torah whith their explanations! Mazal Tov Esther! This looks so exciting and we are so proud of you. Wishing you to go michayil el chayil! Let us know how it all was, and encourage us all to do the same!
- We are so proud of Dovi Levy, who makes an audio summary every day of 3 chapters of Rambam’s Mishneh Torah, and distributes these to Yeshiva Boys who he is in contact with, to help them understand Rambam better. This is an amazing accomplishment Dovi! Kol Hakavod and wishing you much success with your new phase of life in NY!
- Esther, Binyamin, Mendel, and Shneur Zalman Davidoff in London and Gavriel Davidoff in LA have all contributed much help to my ongoing Rambam project. Thank you for your amazing work!
- There may be others in the Family working on Rambam learning etc which I have not yet heard about.
I saw an article in Chabad.org this week on Bukharian Jews, which I am attaching. https://www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/6819530/jewish/13-Facts-You-Should-Know-About-Bukharian-Jews.htm
It caught my attention because people often ask me if the origin of Davidoff is Bukharian. And this is valid question, because the article mentions that they have distinct surnames which invariably end with ‘off’ or ‘ov’!!
So in the light of the Cobb Family’s recent visit to Lithuania to explore our roots, I was wondering if anyone has a deeper or more distant knowledge of our roots.
I would love to hear from Roy, Gavin, Kevin Marks, Avraham Pollock (if Tracy could ask him), and others who are interested in genealogy, if we have a connection to Bukharian Jews.
And also their clothing looks so colourful, and I thought that this would be a nice sequel to Purim 😊!
Gut Shabbos to all!
